At Kuperus Trucking, we’re proud to have earned the SmartWay High Performer Award for the last 7 years running. We’re committed to using sustainable practices, efficient transportation methods, and other eco-friendly implementations in the trucking business. What is the SmartWay High Performer Award?

The SmartWay Program began in 2004 with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fuel use. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) runs this effective initiative.

As freight activity in the United States has continued to expand, and e-commerce has increased, the EPA began to see the need for more sustainable trucking practices.

The freight system is vital to the operation of commerce around the country. With streamlined shipping operations and sustainable strategies, freight companies work hard to continue transporting product in a way that benefits our country and communities while causing a significantly lower amount of pollution.

The EPA’s SmartWay program is a voluntary public-private program. This program aims to create a benchmarking system that enhances sustainability. This includes reducing freight emissions, helping companies choose efficient freight carriers, and reducing environmental risk.

Criteria for SmartWay High Performers

At Kuperus Trucking, we’re highly dedicated to these same goals., which is why we’ve been awarded as a SmartWay High Performer for 7 years in a row.

Kuperus Chief Operating Officer Brent Oberle commented on this award saying:

Each year, SmartWay partners submit performance data to the EPA. This data reveals information about efficiency and air quality performance.

The award considers freight transportation operations when their efficiency and/or air quality falls within the correct top performance range.
